Get Ready for the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run!

For the third year, El Dorado County is proud to participate in the El Dorado County Law Enforcement Torch Run Supporting Northern California Special Olympics! This incredible event is a united effort by all our local law enforcement and public safety departments from both the West Slope and South Lake Tahoe. The Flame of Hope will be passing through El Dorado County on Friday, June 20th as it makes its way to the Opening Ceremonies of the Special Olympics Summer Games in Santa Clara!

You'll see participation from:

·         US Forest Service - El Dorado National Forest California State Parks

·         California Highway Patrol (Placerville & South Lake Tahoe)

·         El Dorado County Sheriff

·         El Dorado County Probation

·         El Dorado County District Attorney

·         El Dorado County Public Defender

·         El Dorado County Alternate Public Defender

·         Placerville Police Department

·         South Lake Tahoe Police Department

·         El Dorado County Fire Department

·         EDCOE

·         El Dorado County Fire

·         El Dorado County CAL FIRE

Board of Supervisors, the Mayors of Placerville and South Lake Tahoe, Assemblyman Patterson and District Rep Victor Wolfe, and Senator Alvarado Gill.

How to Participate

For Families Who Want to Run: If your family would like to participate and receive a run dry-wick shirt in time for the June 20th event, please make sure to register by May 27th

2025 Law Enforcement Torch Run - El Dorado County Law Enforcement and Public Safety

For Special Olympics Athletes: Special Olympics athletes do not need to register. We just need their names, shirt sizes, and which leg of the run they'd like to participate in.

The Mother Lode Union School District is excited to share this event with our school community and look forward to supporting the Northern California Special Olympics!
